The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is a weekend-long celebration of comics that enjoyed its launch in May 2012. The festival features readings, panels, and workshops, culminating in a two-day exhibition for cartoonists from across the country and down the coast.
The goal of VanCAF is to appeal to everyone, whether they're already die-hard comics fans or simply experimenting. For this reason, admission to all events is completely free, and table costs for exhibitors are kept as low as possible. We're not so much concerned with making a profit as we are transforming Vancouver into a city of story-telling and comics.
The show has enjoyed a growing audience since 2012. In our first year, we attracted 3200 attendees with 92 exhibitors; in 2013, our attendance reached 5000 with 122 exhibitors; in 2014, we featured 136 exhibitors and 8000 attendees!
This year, we'll boast an astonishing 260+ exhibitors, spanning across two halls.
Although we take inspiration from and greatly admire the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, we are not affiliated.
The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is managed and organized by the Vancouver Comic Arts Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting local cartoonists with the community.
